In PeaceMaker Minnesota’s transformative Ambassadors for Respect program, fourth-grade students learn the importance of inclusion, kindness, and self-advocacy through powerful presentations by individuals with developmental disabilities, Ambassadors for Respect.
Our Ambassadors share their experiences with bullying, helping students understand the impact of their words and actions while teaching them to use kind, Person-First language and advocate for themselves and others.
The program promotes empathy, respect, and understanding, enhancing students' emotional well-being and how they relate to others and supporting their emotional and social development.
Alongside these lessons, teachers are provided with valuable resources to address bullying and effectively foster a respectful classroom environment. The Ambassadors, who gain valuable leadership and communication skills while receiving a stipend for their work, serve as powerful role models, inspiring lasting change in the classroom..
