In response to requests from the local community, the Alliance Française chapter based in the Twin Cities began hosting cultural and educational programming in Rochester in May 2015.

We need your help to keep these programs free and open to all. With financial support from the Rochester community we can improve our outreach and capacity.

In 2020 you can look forward to:

  • P’tit Dej:  Every first Saturday of every other month, join us at Old Abe Coffee Shop from 9:30-11:30 am. One of our French-speaking staff facilitates French conversation for all levels, from beginner to native speakers. P’tit Dej attracts French-speakers and learners from around the world, building community and forging new friendships for Rochester and surrounding area residents.
  • CinéClub: One Wednesday, every other month,  AFMSP screens French-language films at Rochester Public Library. This series screens films from around the French-speaking world, showcasing the global diversity of native French-speakers.  Screened in French, with English subtitles, these films are accessible to French speakers and non-French speakers alike, with an interest in other cultures and cinema. Next screening on Wednesday, Nov 20 !
  • Un Apéritif d'Hiver: We're looking forward to organizing an evening social gathering to brighten up our winter. Stay tuned for details, and feel free to message with suggestions!
  • Gaëlle Wondje: On March 20, Cameroonian Singer-Songwriter Gaëlle Wondje will perform at the Rochester Art Center. This will be Gaëlle's first time ever in the US! Enjoy her music, and through her performance, learn about Cameroonian culture, traditional and contemporary music and dance. In French and English.

2020 Annual programming is partially sponsored by Mayo Clinic. Help us raise the remaining funds to meet our budget.
