Matt Dumba and Michael Boxall's Give to the Max Day ACES Challenge

Minnesota Wild defenseman Matt Dumba and Minnesota United defender Michael Boxall know that ALL students deserve an ALL-STAR education. That’s why this Give to the Max Day, Matt and Michael are hosting a friendly competition in support of one of their favorite organizations, ACES!

Here’s how it works: From November 1 – November 18, 2021, join Team Dumba or Team Boxall by making a donation of any amount to ACES. At end of the giving period, we’ll announce which team raised the most to support ACES’s lifechanging afterschool programming. BONUS: One lucky, randomly-selected donor from each Team will receive a one-of-a-kind autographed jersey. Team up with Matt and Michael to make a difference for Twin Cities students!

About ACES

ACES (Athletes Committed to Educating Students) is an innovative out-of-school-time program that brings math and social-emotional learning to life for Twin Cities students. Our hands-on curriculum, individual mentorship, and once-in-a-lifetime field trip opportunities help students develop crucial academic and life skills – all through the exciting lens of sports! In partnership with Minnesota’s professional and collegiate sports teams, ACES is tackling the academic opportunity gap and preparing young learners to succeed in school, career, and community.

About the Academic Opportunity Gap

Minnesota students face one of the most severe academic opportunity gaps in the nation, and disparities between students of color and their white peers are even more stark in the Twin Cities.

In the Twin Cities, students of color experience gaps of more than 50 points in both 3rd Grade Reading and 8th Grade Math when compared to white students. Minnesota ranks last among all 50 states for Black and LatinX students who graduate high school on time. And the pandemic has only exacerbated education disparities in our state.
