FUNDRAISING UPDATE + NEXT STEPS

Update posted 5 years ago

We are nearly TWO-THIRDS of the way to our $10,000 goal for the pancake brunch! Thank you to everyone who has given so far to boost long-haul systems change organizing for worker justice.

If you have already given (gratitude!), can you ask two people you know to donate today? and/or share the fundraiser link on your social media platform of choice with a short + sweet sentence about why you gave?

And if you have not yet matched your donation to CTUL to a mutual aid fund, please DONATE to support black, trans, indigenous, two spirit artists TODAY. We know that this crisis is only exacerbating violence on folks who have always been hardest hit.

Appreciation + connection on this gloomy Tuesday morning,

In what feels like an unprecedented moment of economic devastation, transformative possibility, and the violent ravaging of capitalism, we know that, as adrienne maree brown teaches us, "things are not getting worse. They are getting uncovered. We must hold each other tight and continue to pull back the veil."  The systems that are hurting our communities now are the same ones we've always been organizing against at CTUL.

As an act of social solidarity and centering our wellness and livelihoods, we cancelled our pancake brunch scheduled for this coming Saturday, and yet we need your support more than ever, with the present and pending economic downturn likely slashing foundation dollars in the next grant cycles.

In our present covid-19 moment, we need immediate relief and organizing for long-haul systems change, to hold each other tight and pull back the veil. And so our ask today is a both/and.

1. If you had planned to attend the brunch this Saturday, please still make a donation to CTUL. We need your support more than ever to continue to pull back the veil on corporate capitalism, and to equip low-wage workers across the Twin Cities to lead and organize and build power.

Donations are on a sliding scale of $5 to $15. For folks with access to wealth and class privilege, we ask you to stretch that gift higher.

And if you can make this donation monthly to get us through the hard economic times to come, please set up a recurring donation at https://ctul.net/donate.

2. In addition, we ask you to match your donation to CTUL by giving to one of many mutual aid relief funds supporting low-wage workers as an act of holding each other tight, from afar. Some of those funds include:

We are so grateful to have such scrappy, loyal , fierce supporters in our community, now and always. Thanks for showing up and being part of the ecosystem that makes our organizing possible.
