Our Young Leaders looking to the future!
There are the youth editors of our literary magazine The Phoenix of Phillips. They are excited about Give to the Max Day; even more, they are excited to be part of Seeding a New Community in our neighborhood.
“We are all seeds; we are all farmers. What we plant and tend will feed those we love.”
Our community has been through an awful lot these past few years: the pandemic and economic disruption, the racial reckoning after the murder of George Floyd, the destruction of much of our neighborhood in its aftermath. For many of us, we dreamed of “getting back to normal”. But maybe we can dream bigger: not just back to what we love but loving what we have to give so much that we create a better community.
As often happens, our youth are leading us in this hope. This summer, they made mosaics, painted a beautiful mural on a busy corner and wrote poems of loss and love. But even more than that, they inspired us with their joy and their courage. Our Young Leaders are leading us every day!
We have a newly remodeled studio, and will be offering a variety of workshops in different disciplines as we begin to gather in person again. Your gifts make that happen, and for that, we thank you!
