It takes a whole village to hand down the tradition to the next generation of musicians in our community. At the Center for Irish Music, we are dedicated to nurturing relationships with teachers and masters of the tradition through educational programs like the Minnesota Irish Music Weekend, the Fleadh Cheoil and partnerships with local organizations.
This summer, we are asking for your support as we deepen connections with the worldwide Irish arts community and inspire young leaders right here in the Twin Cities.
Our talented students are so excited for this year's All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil that they've already raised $500 through public performances and busking. When you join them by making a donation now, 100% of your gift will be matched by our Board of Directors Challenge Fund and Tim and Kim Scanlan!
Your donation to the Center for Irish Music will help us:
- Provide financial aid for our students to attend the Scoil Éigse summer school at the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann (August 11-18, 2019 in Drogheda), where they'll learn from master musicians and forge lifelong connections with other students from around the world.
- Present Minnesota Irish Music Weekend, an annual music festival that brings world-class traditional Irish musicians into town for a full weekend of workshops, sessions, a concert, and more.
- Send our students and instructors to the Midwest Fleadh Cheoil, where they'll share tunes with musicians from across the midwest and get valuable feedback from respected traditional artists.
- Provide free junior sessions and performance opportunities that connect young players to the lively social context of Irish music all year round.
Your tax-deductible contribution of any amount makes a difference. Thank you for your support!
