WE WORK AT THE INTERSECTION OF LAND JUSTICE, FOOD SECURITY, ECOLOGICAL RESTORATION, AND COMMUNITY CARE.

Systemic barriers in our agricultural system deny marginalized farmers equitable access to land and farming infrastructure. Sharing Our Roots provides an innovative land access solution in our region by hosting farmers & gardeners in a shared economy, where we are all stronger together.

Your gift today will support 125 community gardeners growing culturally significant food for their families; 20+ immigrant, BIPOC, LBGTQ+, and emerging farmers at the Sharing Our Roots Farm in Northfield; and our ongoing work to innovate a path toward a more just, resilient food system.

Your donation also supports the continued restoration of 163 acres of formerly degraded farmland into a thriving ecosystem of native prairie and wetlands, biodiverse habitat, and certified organic farmland with healthy soil and clean water—modeling how regenerative farming can benefit both people and the planet.

A generous supporter has offered a $4,000 match, meaning that when you give today, you'll have double the impact. Your contribution of any amount makes a real difference in our critical land access and restoration efforts.

ABOUT SHARING OUR ROOTS:
+ We welcome, support, and value the expertise of immigrant, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and emerging farmers in a shared economy.
+ We demonstrate perennial agriculture's capacity to heal the land and care for community.
+ We exist to share. We share land, machinery, infrastructure, produce, technical expertise, and knowledge with each other.

OUR FARM:
We are a land-based organization, rooted in our 163-acre Sharing Our Roots Farm, located just outside of Northfield, MN. Through regenerative farming practices, we are restoring the farmland from decades of monocropped corn & soy production into a vibrant community of wildlife, plants, and humans.

OUR INITIATIVES:
+ COMMONS COHORT
We provide long-term land access agreements for a cohort of 20+ farmers who organize themselves through shared community norms.

We work to dismantle the systemic barriers in our agricultural system created by pervasive racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, and classism that have denied marginalized groups equitable access to the basic needs that sustain all of us: food, water, and land.

+ COMMUNITY CONNECTORS
We support 125 local families growing culturally significant food in 7 community gardens in Northfield & Faribault.

Community Connectors are local leaders, hired by SOR to support their neighbors with technical gardening assistance, training, and links to local resources. Our Community Connector initiative is critical to improving food sovereignty in our region.

+ WILDLIFE COUNTS
We monitor the return of wildlife to the SOR Farm after decades of conventional farming.

Conventional agriculture has had significant negative impacts on biodiversity globally, but we’re proving that farming can also be part of the solution. We are producing nutritious food while creating habitat for wildlife and documenting the return of native species to formerly degraded farmland.
