CHILL: Erinn's Charlie Brown Christmas Dance Show
Project for Rhythmically Speaking

Out of Towner? Couldn't make it? Get your 'Digital Ticket' here!

I've dreamed for many years about creating staged dance to Vince Guaraldi's now iconic jazz soundtrack for the 1965 TV special "Charlie Brown Christmas." It's playful and nostalgic qualities have kept it fresh and meaningful to many over the course of now more than 50 years, and I knew creating dance inspired by it would create holiday cheer that I could share with others! After many years of scheming, thanks to the amazing dancers and collaborators I've been very fortunate to work with, the first version of this vision finally came to life this year at the Amsterdam Bar & Hall in St. Paul MN, which also happens to be the birthplace of Peanuts creator Charles Schultz.

If you are excited by the sounds of this project but live out of town or were not able to catch the show, this fundraiser is a perfect opportunity to support and see our work! Your donation of the price of a show ticket or more will provide you access to video of the show so you can experience it too.

Though most dance shows in the Twin Cities often cost $25.00 or $30.00, it was important to me to keep ticket costs affordable at $17.00 for adults and free for kids 12 and under. That said, as you may know, exciting artistic projects like this rarely fund themselves. Much like it takes a community of movers to create a dance show, it takes a community of supporters to successfully fund it. Though I am fortunate to have a lot of resources (ex: in-kind rehearsal space, presentation by the Amsterdam defraying normal venue costs), there are still many expenses that ticket income alone will not cover, including the people who bring it to life:

  • Local jazz combo GST (Bob DeBoer, Greg Schaefer, Danny Sigelman and Tony Watercott)
  • Lighting Designer and Technical Consultant Ian Knodel
  • Dancers Leanna Browne, Doug Hooker, O'Calla Joslyn, Genevieve D Johnson, Callie Rosenbaum, Jesse Schmitz-Boyd, Crissy Tolson and me, Erinn Liebhard :)
My colleagues and I create art because it inspires and challenges us and our audiences. Any amount you can contribute beyond the $17.00 cost of your 'digital ticket' will help me compensate these talented, highly-trained, dedicated and wonderful artists and humans for the work they've put into creating this artistic experience for you.

Thank you for supporting my project CHILL, celebrating the music of "Charlie Brown Christmas"! I hope it's sometimes silly, sometimes cool, always joyful approach will bring you holiday cheer when you watch it. You'll certainly bring me and my colleagues holiday cheer by contributing to our work!

With gratitude,
