Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) began in 2003 as a small, grassroots effort providing simple care and comfort items to the hospital bedsides of the first wounded service members returning home from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. As their post-service needs evolved, so have WWP’s programs and services, which include mental health, career counseling, and long-term rehabilitative care — improving the lives of millions of warriors and their families, all at no cost to them.
Our mission – to honor and empower wounded warriors – is critical, and we fulfill this mission in three distinct ways:
These efforts require the passion and commitment of friends, supporters, and like-minded organizations who enable us to guarantee, as much as possible, that when those who serve come home, they’re afforded every opportunity to be as successful as a civilian as they were in the military. When they’re ready to start their next mission, we stand ready to serve.
Since the COVID-19 crisis, some of the creative ways we are adapting our programming include live streaming connection opportunities with fellow warriors, online physical health and wellness challenges, and telehealth options to help reduce stress, manage anxiety, and build resilience. In addition, signature programs for wounded warriors and their families like WWP Talk, Benefits Service, and Warriors to Work® are available virtually.
During these uncertain times, ensuring the health and well-being of those we serve remains our greatest concern. For us to keep this critical work going, we need your support now more than ever. Please consider giving today. Every donation – big or small – makes a difference.
