Domestic Violence is one of the leading causes of homelessness among women and children.
You can help women and children who have been traumatized by domestic violence and sexual assault by donating to Women of Nations, a nonprofit dedicated to providing culturally-specific services and trauma-informed care.
Women of Nations is a Native American focused organization, but serves clients of all races, cultures and ethnicities. We recognize that domestic violence and sexual assault affects individuals and families regardless of their race, profession, sexuality, gender or socio-economic status. We have worked to become a leading institution in the emergency shelter field; one of the first organizations to institute trauma-informed care in our policies and procedures; one of two shelters in Minnesota to allow pets and service animals to be housed with their owner; we are openly inclusive and sensitive to the LGBTQ community.
Women of Nations runs an emergency shelter, the Eagle's Nest Shelter, that provides services to women and children who are fleeing domestic violence or are victims of sexual assault. The shelter has 44 beds and operates a 24/7 crisis hotline. We run support and education groups that assist clients with processing trauma, organize finances and become more self-reliant and make healthier choices.
Over this upcoming year, Women of Nations will be developing a mental health program, where clients can receive therapy, get diagnosis and continue services past their residential stay at the Eagle's Nest Shelter. It is important that trauma is addressed with professional guidance. These services will be another support that enables our clients to break free from the cycle of abuse and live violence-free lives.
Your donation will directly support our programs and services.
