Introducing the new Wise Fool Theater YOUNG COMPANY!

The Young Company is an advanced training program for high school students with a Performance Track and a Technical Theater Track.

The Performance Track will teach students about acting through the works of William Shakespeare with a variety of guest artists including Shakespearean Dr. Kevin Quarmby, Wise Fool actor Brad Damon (Hamlet, Feste), and certified fight choreographer Mike Lubke. (And so many more!) Students in our Technical Track will learn primarily from lighting and scenic designer Jeff Brown and sound designer Nicholas Gosen, plus even more special guests. If you have seen theater in Duluth, you've experienced Jeff and Nick's work! We are so lucky to have all of these wonderful artists ready and willing to work with these lucky high school students!

Each group will learn through a series of workshops and they'll be able to show off their skills with a full production of Shakespeare's Macbeth in February and a Shakespeare showcase in May.

Since this is the first year of the program, we wanted to offer it to students at a reduced fee of $250. And many students are receiving full or partial fee waivers because we don't want to turn anyone away! But this program will cost money.

Many of the guest artists are offering their services for greatly reduced rates, but we want to be able to pay everyone as best as we can. There are also many materials we will need to purchase for the classes AND for the production itself - books, tools, costume and scenic materials, weapon rentals, promotional materials, etc. And tshirts! We can't run a top notch educational experience without giving these kids a tshirt, right?!

Any help you can offer would be so very appreciated. We think this is a unique program that has the potential to grow into something incredibly special. It's just going to take a little support from YOU!

We believe theater is for anyone who has the desire to experience it - from the over-educated to the under-educated, rich and poor, young and old. Theater should be a visceral, exciting, life changing experience available to ALL.
