White Earth Tribal and Community College (WETCC) is located in rural northwestern Minnesota on the White Earth Indian Reservation.  We opened in 1997 in a two room building on Main Street in downtown Mahnomen, MN and have continued to serve the community since. Over the years WETCC has grown and in 2016 finally moved all staff and students to one campus, which was the first time in our history.

We are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission as a two-year educational institution.  As a small educational institution, our student body is older than average and most are single parents.  Many also work at least part-time while attending school.  We offer day, evening, and online classes to try to meet their needs.

We partner with area institutions and agencies to try to best serve our students while they face the challenges of juggling school with every day life.  Approximately 98% of our students are Pell grant eligible.  Most live within a 50-mile radius of WETCC, which has some of the highest poverty areas in Minnesota.  Many of our students are also first-generation students, trying to improve their lives and better the next generation.

WETCC serves the community even beyond our student population.  We off many workshops free of charge to encourage health eating habits, growing your own food, and learning more about the Anishinaabe language, culture, and traditions, which are are major part of our mission statement: "White Earth Tribal and Community College is an institution of higher learning dedicated to academic excellence grounded in Anishinaabe culture, values, and traditions.:"
