RESIDENTIAL COUNSELING

Whispers of Hope is a free-of-charge retreat for women 18 and above. The length of stay is determined weekly by the resident’s need and participation. We offer individual counseling, loving staff support and an opportunity to live well in community with others. Applicants who recognize their need for help in overcoming poor life choices, unhealthy relationships, mild depression, fears, feelings of guilt and inadequacy may apply. Women who struggle in these areas tend to fall through the cracks as they do not qualify for treatment but are in need of help. To be successful, residents must be committed to working hard in all aspects of the program and open to a biblical approach.

Purpose: Women in need benefit from a safe, quiet environment that allows them to heal emotionally, spiritually and physically. Our volunteers encourage our residents with compassion and emotional support as they build healthy self-esteem, worthiness and confidence. Women who struggle often need to get away from daily pressures and an unhealthy culture to focus on who the Lord tells them they are, a beautiful masterpiece with purpose and giftedness.

We are NOT a treatment facility licensed to provide support and therapy for existing diagnoses such as: Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Dissociative Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, Reactive Attachment Disorder, Schizophrenia, Eating Disorders or Chemical Dependency. We encourage individuals struggling in these areas to seek treatment specifically designed for their needs. However, applicants who have successfully completed treatment for such disorders and have a desire to look further at their life choices and relationships may apply.

INTENSIVE ONE-TWO DAY COUNSELING

Women who have only a few days available can receive counseling that gets to the core of their deep struggles. There will be one-on-one counseling, required reading, journaling and self-reflection. Women going through this program stay overnight at Whispers.

Purpose: With busy lives, many women cannot take time for themselves to address the emotional burdens they carry. Women who choose this program can return for another intensive session if needed when time permits. We want to see them through to the end of their struggles.

THE TINY ROOM

The Tiny Room is a small bedroom that provides a safe and quiet place for women 18 and above who need time away for rest, reflection or help putting a plan in place to move forward when life is difficult.

Purpose: This program allows women to receive support, rest and counseling if desired. The one to seven day option works well with most women’s busy schedules. When women arrive they are welcomed by loving staff and when they leave, they often state that they felt very cared for and received the help and rest needed.

OUTDOOR ANIMALS

We presently have two dogs, three cats, two goats, two miniature donkeys and two miniature horses. These animals provide an additional type of therapy for women. The miniature stature of the donkeys and horses can allow women to interact without fear. Animal therapy is very successful as the animals can convey unconditional love. For some women this can create the bridge needed for deeper emotional healing.

All of our programs have been designed with the Lord’s leading. We join Him daily, open handed, in what it is that He is doing.
