Our Mission: Breaking the cycle of addiction and trauma for women, children, and families.

Our services go beyond a typical 90-day stay in substance use treatment. We provide wraparound recovery care that meets a woman's holistic health needs and those of her children. These services are the most effective for achieving long-term recovery, and your support ensures Wayside can continue to deliver these critical programs.

Our Goal: Designing Trauma-Informed Spaces

Over 80% of Wayside clients have reported experiencing significant trauma in their lives. In 2023, about 60% of clients had a history of experiencing abuse, most (93%) were living below the federal poverty line, and 32% were homeless upon intake at Wayside - all of which can contribute to trauma responses.

We know that starting substance use treatment - whether residential treatment or outpatient - can be overwhelming, and a history of trauma can compound the feelings of overwhelm. We want each of our sites to be designed to support clients in their healing. A trauma-informed design is the evidence-based concept of using features such as furniture, artwork, calming colors, and lighting to create a calming and safe environment. Our goal is to make these updates across our sites to create a more respectful, trauma-informed, therapeutic environment. However, this will require things such as new furniture in resident rooms, new decor, and painting services, in addition to other updates.

We can't do it without you. Please make your gift today!
