Friends of the Virginia Public Library

Welcome to the FRIENDS of the Virginia Public Library! We recruit volunteers, promote library programs, and assist the library with outreach and fundraising.

We host the Brown Bag Lunch  programs and are proud sponsors of the April 2013 One Book-One Community Reads event with Susan Vreeland, author of Clara and Mr. Tiffany.

The MAJORITY of the events we hosted in 2011 were made possible by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund—thank you Minnesota voters!—and we are grateful for the willing, talented support of our local authors, artists and experts.

We are especially proud of our library's Summer Reading Program.  In 2012 we surpassed 4 TIMES the National Average in school-age participation for communities our size with 46% of Parkview and Roosevelt students participating!
