VLN ensures justice for all Minnesotans-- not just those who can afford an attorney.

Join a community of judges, lawyers, community activists, clients and countless others who believe in equal access to justice. Volunteer Lawyers Network is a 503(c)(3) provides free legal advice, representation, education, and referrals to Minnesotans experiencing poverty. Between July 2022 to June 2023, 497 of our trained volunteers worked with 5,964 clients, helping them navigate a complex legal system to protect their rights, their families, and their hard-earned income. As a result of our work, tenants avoid homelessness, families are reunited, and people can find better employment. We partner with a myriad local and national organizations dedicated to fighting poverty and protecting the rights of marginalized people.

Equality in representation: VLN connects low-income Minnesotans needing civil legal help with some of the best private lawyers in the state with no cost to clients.

Equality in access: Through our network of dozens of community and courthouse clinics, Minnesotans in need face the justice system armed with knowledge and the confidence that comes from having a lawyer on their side.

Equality in treatment: Many of our clients say they feel just like a paying client when they use our services. At the core of our volunteer training is respect for clients, their varying backgrounds and the struggles they face.

Without equality, there is no justice.
