Violence Free Minnesota

Violence Free Minnesota (VFMN) is a statewide coalition of over 90 programs working to end relationship abuse. For over 40 years, we have centered the experiences of victim/survivors and our member programs as we challenge systems and institutions and promote social change. Your donation will support:

• Financial stability for survivors:  Violence Free Minnesota's established Survivor Fund offers one-time, low-barrier grants to survivors who need monetary support to gain safe housing and rebuild credit after an abusive relationship. Out of the challenges faced by survivors during the pandemic, VFMN created a COVID-19 Emergency Fund to provide direct cash assistance to survivors who are experiencing violence during the pandemic.
• Responsive and supportive healthcare: We collaborate with Minnesota’s healthcare providers to incorporate best practices for patients who may be experiencing relationship violence.
• Survivor-centered public policy: We make sure our elected officials hear victim/survivors' experiences at the state Capitol and beyond.
• Honoring Minnesota's victims of intimate partner homicide: For over 30 years, Violence Free Minnesota remains the only organization in the state that collects comprehensive information on intimate partner homicides in its annual "Homicide Report: Relationship Abuse in Minnesota."
• Supporting the unique needs of incarcerated survivors: Understanding the experiences and prioritizing the voices of incarcerated survivors and advocating for transformation of criminal legal responses to relationship abuse.

From advocating for safe, low-income housing to supporting the leadership of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in advocacy programs across the state, we work tirelessly to transform the conditions that perpetuate harm.
