You can be a champion for students in your community!
Vega believes that all students should have access to quality music education.
Music education is a critical part of a whole curriculum. Learning to play music helps to build and strengthen neural pathways that help with reading and language learning. Studying music also teaches pattern recognition, collaboration, and creative problem solving – skills we use every day.
Over the past decades, funding for arts education has steadily decreased. As a result of these budget cuts, it is less likely than ever that schools will have musical instruments on hand to lend to students who may not be able to afford the rental or purchase cost of an instrument needed to participate in an instrumental music program.
Since its inception, Vega has helped over 30,000 children participate in school music programs. In 2015, Vega launched Instruments in the Cloud, a website that connects musical instrument donors with classrooms in need. Vega’s collaborations and partnerships with musicians, artists, schools, school districts, businesses, studios, music venues and like-minded nonprofits across all sectors of the state have resulted in astonishing success, bringing music into the lives of students, their families, schools and their larger communities.
