Twin Cities Speedskating Club (TCSS) is a parent-run, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting speed skating to its members

TCSS has roots to the community first organized by Greg Oly, former U.S. national long-track team member and police officer with the City of Plymouth.  Through Oly's work with a new drug awareness program -  D.A.R.E  piloted in the the Wayzata Schools in the 1989 - 1990 school year, Plymouth Wayzata Speed Skating was formed to provide a positive alternative activity for youth in the school district and beyond.  The club continues to support and promote the sport of ice speed skating to members of all ages and abilities.  The club's name was changed in 2013 to Twin Cities Speedskating to reflect a broader identity to the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area and beyond.  The club's activities include weekly practice schedules, in and out of town short and long track events throughout the upper midwest and beyond.  The club's activities is supported primarily by membership dues and fund raising activities to pay for the cost of contract ice, purchase necessary safety equipment, personal protective gear and skate equipment to enable anyone to try the sport.  The organization is run by an all volunteer board of directors having served for the last 8-10 years.  Coaches are certified through US Speed Skating and include former US national competitors and US team coaches.  The club's values of Acceptance, Encouragement, Enjoyment and Respect help maintain a very positive, fun and competitive/recreational outlet alternative.  Our goal is to raise additional funds to upgrade/purchase additional safety equipment including crash pads, to support/defray the cost of travel to club members  that participate in out of town events and provide a means to support the efforts of our volunteer coaches and their out of pocket costs.
