Three Rivers Fibershed

Named after the Mississippi, Minnesota, and St. Croix rivers, Three Rivers Fibershed works to develop strong, community-centered textile systems that build soil health and enhance stewardship within a 175 mile radius of Minneapolis, Minnesota. We do this through:

1. Education: We provide accessible fiber, textile, and agricultural education through sliding scale classes.
2. Community-building: We engage farmers, gardeners, makers, artists, and all who are interested in stewarding meaningful relationships and the health of Three Rivers Fibershed's bioregion through community projects and our Steward Member program.
3. Empowerment: At our core, we are an organization that values abundance over scarcity and welcomes any and all to join in the creation of a thriving local textile economy rooted in natural materials. 

Within the vision of Fibershed, of which Three Rivers Fibershed is an affiliate, is a call to make textiles a different way, one in which the impact of our fibers are considered from a soil-to-soil perspective. These soil-to-soil systems create just local economies that honor all who participate centering on local labor, local fiber, and local natural dyes. It is our mission to abolish unjust textile systems and create in their place strong, decentralized textile economies that builds from the resources within our own communities. 

We rely on our small but mighty board of directors and an expanding network of volunteers and contractors. Your support this Give to the Max Day will help us continue to build an inclusive soil-to-soil textile community. We are investing in communications and social media to raise awareness of the talented people who create local fiber and textiles and to welcome new community members. We are also exploring a fiber assistance program for individuals to purchase quality yarns, natural dyestuffs, and spinning fibers from our agricultural stewards and tools, such as spindles for spinning yarn and knitting needles.
