The Gray Mallard Theater Co.

The Gray Mallard Theater Company was founded in 2021, and we are entering the fourth season of Shakespeare at the Pub. 

Our mission is to bring thoughtful, inclusive, and professional outdoor summer Shakespeare to the Twin Cities community. We aim to engage our community by creating a public gathering space focused on a dynamic, imaginative, and entertaining live performance, free to our audience. We strongly believe that art and culture should be accessible to all. This drives us to create theater experiences that promote a robust exchange of ideas and provide an extraordinary examination of the human condition.

Our vision is to engage Minneapolis through a summer tradition of outdoor Shakespeare with highly trained classical actors and high-quality production values - all at no cost to our audience. By taking Shakespeare out of a formal theater, we aim to connect with audiences who cannot afford theater tickets and those who might feel intimidated or excluded by the institution. Through an emphasis on storytelling and text with a diverse cast, we aim to connect new audiences to the universality of Shakespeare.

Every performance of Shakespeare at the Pub is free for all.

UPCOMING PRODUCTION: July 2025

Much Ado About Nothing is the original in the canon of "will they or won't they" romantic comedies that inspired the likes of When Harry Met Sally and You've Got Mail. Beatrice and Benedick's hostility and witty banter mask their true feelings for each other. Meanwhile, Claudio and Hero's genuine love is threatened by malicious deceit. As friends and foes alike conspire to unite or divide, the play provides a delightful exploration of love, honor, second chances, and the power of words.

We will return for our fourth season of Shakespeare at the Pub at Sociable Cider Werks in July.
