Students United

This year, our Give to the Max will benefit our Jared P. Stene Student Leader scholarship, which is given yearly to a student at one of the seven Minnesota State Universities. 

Jared Stene, a student at Winona State University, was the epitome of student leadership. He was an active member of Students United and cared deeply for students across the state. Sadly, in 2007, Jared passed away at the age of 22 due to complications from Wilson's disease. 

Jared's words are memorialized in Winona State University's student senate office: "At the end of the day, ask yourself: "What have I done to serve students today?" 

"Although I didn't know Jared personally, his work is a great reminder to everyone in the Winona State Student Senate. It serves as a reminder of why we put so much time into advocating for Winona students. Jared's passion will continue to live on at Winona, and we will take that passion beyond campus to create a better Minnesota for everyone."

Students United is a student coalition representing and advocating for Minnesota State University students. Our work focuses on ensuring students have a higher education experience that is rooted in students' voices, tangible advocacy for students (affordable higher education, increased scholarship/grants access, increased access to mental health and basic needs), and inclusive spaces for all people involved in our work.
