St. Jude is the first and only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children. This designation displays excellence and leadership in laboratory, clinical and survivorship research, as well as education and community outreach. In their two most recent NCI reviews, the St. Jude Comprehensive Cancer Center (SJCCC) received an “exceptional” score, the highest it can be awarded.
Since opening in 1962, St. Jude has helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate in the United States from 20% to more than 80%, and won’t stop until no child dies from cancer.
