FREE legal advice via our Action Line
for domestic and sexual violence survivors in Minnesota

A survivor reached out to Standpoint's Action Line twice after a judge ordered her child's father to prove his sobriety by providing a hair follicle test result that came directly from him rather than the drug testing center he had been using. She stated she did not believe he had been sober, and he has been known to fabricate and forge documents, so she was worried about the accuracy of any information he provided to the court.

Multiple staff at Standpoint urged her to call the drug testing center to verify the results of the hair follicle test. While she was skeptical, she trusted the advice of Standpoint advocates. Though the drug testing center had to keep his information confidential, they did review the hair follicle test that was submitted to the court, and confirmed it was fraudulent. She followed back up with Standpoint to express her gratitude for the information and advice she received, and stated she was glad she trusted the expertise of Standpoint staff. Because of the advice she received on Standpoint's Action Line, this survivor was able to protect her child and herself from her abusive partner.

"You don't even know what you just did for me. I've been on the phone for three hours this morning trying to get some basic answers and you're the first person to hear me out and actually take the time to understand the dynamics of my situation. I finally feel like I know what do to next."
