Our Faith in Action
$530 Raised
We are a vibrant community that finds great joy in being together on our journey of faith, as we worship, grow, connect and serve. We believe our call is to share, in our work and study and play, the life-changing love of God, which we have encountered in Christ Jesus. Our collect, the prayer we say each week in worship, reflects the mission we share in our common life together.
Our liturgy, preaching, and music unite us in our worship of God. We draw from tradition and contemporary Episcopal sources. Our music program offers opportunities for adults, youth, children, and instrumentalists to make a joyful noise to the Lord. Our thoughtful preaching includes a variety of voices from the pulpit. Worship and prayer in community is one of the key ways we join together in our journey of faith.
Our faith formation opportunities nourish our spiritual development and help us understand how to follow Jesus and serve the world in his name. Our weekly offerings for all ages include opportunities and resources to help us grow in our individual faith journeys on retreat, in the pews, and in our own homes.
We are the “church of the open door” and indeed, our doors are open. All are welcome here, whether lifelong parishioner or new today. We care for one another in joy and in sorrow, from birth to death and the steps in between. We provide diverse opportunities — from parties and picnics to small groups and service projects — to connect spiritually and in community with those who join us in their faith journey.
At St. John’s, we give thanks for the opportunity to serve some small piece of the world’s needs in housing, hunger, and healthcare through local and global partnerships. We mentor families in need through our work with the YWCA; welcome the homeless to our church in February through Project Home, an emergency shelter program; donate produce from our farmer’s market to local food shelves; and visit and support the clinic we built in Kayoro, Uganda. We seek to keep service at the center of our life together.
