Southwest Crisis Center

When kids and families are impacted by violence and abuse, having access to trauma-informed services in their own community is vital! As a nonprofit agency serving communities throughout Southwest Minnesota, we are that trusted resource for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, human trafficking, and child abuse and those who love and care about them.  

In the last year, we served over 700 individuals, families and children as they navigated their own paths toward healing and justice.  This year, we reflect on and celebrate 40 years of providing services to individuals and families in Southwest Minnesota. What started as a volunteer-led organization has ballooned into a staff of nearly 17 that serves 11 counties in rural Southwest Minnesota.  

Over the years, we’ve thought a lot about what works and what doesn’t. How do we prevent domestic violence, sexual violence, human trafficking, and child abuse? How do we raise awareness? How do we get the word out more so people can find us? How can we best support someone? How can we educate others so they understand how to help someone when they do choose to come forward, share their story, or report a crime? The task seems so daunting at times. Then, we remember, like the people we serve, we do not have to do it all alone. We get to be part of an amazing community of people just like you who share our hope for the future.
