In the offices of Somali Community Resettlement Services, SCRS, young men and women are seeking to sign up for ESL classes, and other visitors seeking benefits, employment, training, and housing assistance are scattered around sitting with staff members. “If someone loses a job, the first place they come to is the Somali Community Resettlement Services,” said one of the immigrants that benefited from this agency. Another recent immigrant fleeing an abusive relationship with a small child with autism came to the door of SCRS seeking help when other agencies wouldn’t help her.  SCRS was able to find housing, care for her daughter, and helped her find job opportunities.

Somali Community Resettlement Services is an immigrant-led non-profit founded in 1999 in Rochester, Minnesota by Sharif Hared, the Founder and Executive Director. Our staff are members of the ethnic and cultural communities that we serve. Our services result in a higher quality of life for our clients and their families.  We provide programs and services in housing, finding jobs, health care, public benefits, ESL classes, youth mentoring and elder services.  Employees work hard to connect immigrants and refugees to vital support to help them thrive in their new homeland.
