SOAR Career Solutions

SOAR Career Solutions (SOAR) is a 501(c)3 non-profit based in Duluth, MN whose mission is to inspire personal transformation through career development.   SOAR was founded in 1980 as Project SOAR of NE MN to support displaced homemakers with their employment needs. The name changed in 2005 and in 2006, SOAR started its Re-entry Program.  Today, SOAR provides both Re-entry and Employment Services to help move people into sustainable employment and contribute to a prosperous community. SOAR’s Re-entry Services reduces recidivism by utilizing a bundled approach to case management and providing support to individuals returning back to the Duluth area from incarceration. Employment Services assist clients 1:1 to create career and educational action plans, build soft skills and job search skills, develop resumes and applications, connect to job skills trainings and assist with job retention.

Our vision is to provide innovative programming that moves people to sustainable employment, contributing to a prosperous community.

We have four main points of services: 

Employment Services: Employment Specialists meet one-on-one with our clients to increase their work readiness skills such as resume building, job seeking, connecting with employers, mock interviews, job retention, and much more. All services are individually tailored to meet the client's specific needs. 

Re-Entry Services: With the goal of reducing recidivism, we support our clients who are returning back to the Duluth area after incarceration. Case managers work one-to-one with clients to develop goal plans, address barriers to their transition, and provide support along the way. We also offer a weekly support group to foster social connectedness. 

Self-Discovery Workshops: Mind over Matters uses cognitive psychology and social learning theory to help participants to be their best self. We discuss barriers and how to overcome them, how beliefs influence your behavior, and how to set and achieve life goals.

Career Quest teaches participants how to communicate effectively with employers, which makes the difference in getting and keeping jobs. Participants identify their interests and skills, develop individual employment plans, map out their career pathway, and learn up to date job seeking techniques to get their ideal job.

Job Skills Trainings: We partner with a variety of local training providers to provide subsidized career and technical trainings to increase knowledge and marketable skill sets.
