SkillsUSA is a federally recognized career and technical student organization (CTSO) and is an integral part of a career and technical education (CTE) program. We've been doing this work for more than five decades - always growing, always striving to reach more students and to help them leave high school with a direction. SkillsUSA is the largest organization whose purpose is to serve middle school, high school and college students preparing for technical, skilled and service careers. Our mission is to prepare students for career success. We know it is critical that all members understand their value and purpose while being connected to in-demand careers that build economic security for a lifetime.
One of the ways that students can explore future career options is through CTSOs and work-based activities. An intracurricular element of many CTE programs, CTSOs help students develop leadership skills and connect with business leaders through service activities and industry-based competitions. Students can also interact with employers through workplace tours, job shadowing and other work-based learning activities.
SkillsUSA provides students with unique opportunities to further their careers in skilled trades by providing them with educational, training and competitive opportunities. SkillsUSA students simultaneously learn personal, technical and workplace skills that make them the qualified future workforce of America. SkillsUSA complements technical skill training with instruction in the employability skills that make a well-rounded worker and citizen. Our programs emphasize high ethical standards, superior work skills, lifelong education and pride.
