Scruffy Tails Humane Society

Our Mission: To aid in the reunification and rehoming of cats and dogs, to support the human-animal bond through community education, and to provide safe shelter when needed.

Our Vision: To lead and inspire a community dedicated to saving the lives of pets and supporting the humans who love them.

The Humane Society of Polk County, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization doing business as Scruffy Tails Humane Society. We are supported entirely by generous donors and contributors. We are a no-kill organization meaning we will not euthanize due to lack of space, time, or funding.

In our community, we take in lost pets and reunite them with their family or find them new homes if needed. We also offer a pet food bank for community members who are unable to afford food for their pets so we can help keep pets with their people. 

From September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2022 we have impacted the lives of 354 pets. These pets came to us in need - injured, lost, or unwanted. Our dedicated staff, volunteers, and board members stepped up to help these pets and are continuing to help more every day in our community. 

Through adoptions and transports, we are changing the lives of cats and dogs every day but we need your help to continue our efforts. We have more lives to save; more sick kittens like Hazel and more abandoned dogs like Rusty. By donating to our Humane Society, you're helping to change and save lives of those in need.
