Help women in the Democratic Republic of Congo in Africa lift themselves out of poverty.

Saidiana dreams of a world where no mother has to choose which child to feed. In our new world, women break the cycle of poverty and oppression in which they live. They are seen, heard, and empowered to make their futures, and those of their families and communities, better.

Saidiana operates in Lubumbashi, a large city in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Our headquarters is in Edina, MN. We help women improve their lives and the lives of their families by providing resources that support their business ventures. To do this, we (1) operate two sewing trade schools where women master the skills needed to sew products for resale and we (2) provide grants to groups of women who start or expand their small businesses.

$2/day is the per capita GDP in the DRC. The majority of our sewing trade school graduates have added $50/month to their household income. That’s success! Your contributions support continuation of the trade schools.

Additionally, we are piloting a training salon to teach hair and nail techniques and business practices to impoverished adolescent girls who are being abused and sexually exploited. With female literacy at 50% and and 43% of children 5-14 working, these young women need assistance if they are to break away from a life on the street.

This year, your donation will make double the impact! The first $5,000 we receive through GTTM will be matched due to the generosity of the Carter Family Foundation. Donate now and help make the dreams of DRC women a reality.
