SACA Food Shelf and Thrift Store provides food and other basic needs items to individuals and families in Columbia Heights, Northeast Minneapolis, and surrounding communities. Last year, we distributed over 950,000 pounds of food to our neighbors. Our mission is to provide food and resources to those in need while empowering dignity and independence.
SACA’s programs include:
A Client Choice Food Shelf
A Mobile Food Program where we rescue and redistribute food to low income buildings in our service area
A volunteer-run thrift store where all proceeds go to buying food.
A grocery delivery service for homebound seniors and people living with disabilities
Seasonal Fresh Produce Distributions
Holiday Toy Program that collects donations for and distributes new toys and gifts for over 500 children in our community
Holiday Meal Distribution, where we partner with other organizations to provide holiday turkey and meal fixings to families in need
SACA has been around for almost 50 years, yet receives no permanent funding. We rely on donations like yours to keep our organization running, feed the families in our community, and grow into the future.
Here's what you're gift means to SACA:
$50 purchases 500 pounds of food
$500 buys two months of gas for the truck that picks up and delivers food from our partners
$1,500 provides 1 month of grocery deliveries for seniors in our community
$5,000 fills the shelves of the food shelf for one month.
Every dollar makes a big impact on the work we do at SACA. Thank you for donating to our cause!
