The US produces the most e-waste in the world, yet only 15-20% is recycled or re-used. Repowered is part of the solution to reduce e-waste in landfills. We recycle business and consumer e-waste, provide full service data security and asset disposition, we reduce e-waste in our landfills, extend the life of technology through refurbishing, and change the lives of unemployed adults through our job training program
Repowered (formerly known as Tech Dump & Tech Discounts) responds to needs in the Twin Cities: a place to safely and responsibly recycle electronics and a long-term, hands on training program that pays trainees to gain the skills they need to transform their lives and gain employment.
Our impact is measured by the number of enrollees, the number of enrollees completing training, and the number of exits to employment.
We are proud of our innovative program. In 2023 Repowered achieved the following outcomes:
81% of our participants completed the first 90 days or the program
+70% of WRE’s leaving our program graduate with jobs and on average that starting wage is $19.33/hr
Less than 5% recidivism while in our program
Every dollar invested in Repowered, our WRE’s gets more than $3 of value toward their future - this was calculated by a quantitative analysis report by Constellation Fund
In 2023 our retention rate was 81% for Phase I graduates - a significant jump from our 28% retention rate in 2021. By enhancing our program services, requiring mental health group sessions, and cohort onboarding our retention rate has made a notable increase in the past couple of years.
We are proud that our program is giving participants the opportunity to become talented, motivated, and productive employees entering the workforce at a time when unemployment is at a historic low.
While we understand the importance of sharing the quantitative data, we want to note that our program focuses on quality over quantity - quality of the WRE’s experience in the program and the quality of the employees that exit our program and find meaningful employment.
"Repowered (formerly know as Tech Dump & Tech Discounts) helped me to start over. They encouraged me to take pride in my work and helped me regain the confidence I needed to succeed. I am forever grateful. "
