Serving Prospect Park since 1901
Why support Prospect Park Association (PPA)? PPA is the official neighborhood organization for Prospect Park. Along with hundreds of neighborhood volunteers, we rely on your financial support to make positive and tangible impacts in our neighborhood. For example:
* Traffic-calming measures so children can play safely near Pratt School and in Glendale (PPA’s Transportation Committee).
* Climate action and resilience plan successfully reducing fossil fuel use in our neighborhood (PPA’s Environment Committee).
* Successfully advocated for $350,000 in city funding to repair stairs, lighting, etc. inside the Witch’s Hat Tower so it can reopen to the public. Re-established PPA’s Tower Hill Park Committee to advocate for the park and tower and help plan public events at the Tower after it reopens in May 2025 (tentative project completion date) (PPA’s Tower Hill Park Committee).
* Jackson Family Days at Pratt School & community events in collaboration with Jackson Family members and Pratt PTO, funded by U of M’s Good Neighbor Fund, PPCLF, NCR City of Minneapolis, Pratt PTO, and PPA (PPA’s Jackson Family Project Committee).
* Planted new garden in front of the University Ave Post Office, funded by PPCLF (PPA’s Environment Committee).
* Held bi-monthly PPA meetings and co-sponsored community meetings to give neighbors a voice with partners such as BF50 Indigenous Health, Ward 2 Council Member Robin Wonsley’s office, MPD’s 2 nd Precinct Inspector, local businesses, Crime Prevention and others.
* Collaborated with “Surly Gives A Damn” (SGAD) to fund a raised bed community donation garden in the Prospect Park neighborhood (funded by U of M Good Neighbor Fund through PPA).
* Educated renters about their rights and distributed voter registration information in collaboration with Ward 2.
* Keeping neighbors informed through public meetings and newsletters.
* Organized annual yard sale across the Prospect Park Neighborhood (PPA’s Environment Committee).
* Supported Prospect Park’s Ice Cream Social and Picnic, held June 2024.
Founded in 1901, PPA’s mission is to promote, in a non-partisan, educational and cooperative manner, the health, safety and general welfare of the neighborhood and to promote the maintenance and improvement of the aesthetic, residential and physical qualities of the neighborhood environment.
