Prop Shop of Eden Prairie

The PROP Shop is a nonprofit serving low-income families in Eden Prairie and Chanhassen with free clothing, household goods, and furniture.

In the early 2000s, a growing number of families in Eden Prairie and Chanhassen needed help to weather tough times.  Families had nowhere to turn for clothing, dishes, towels, beds, dressers, and more.  Eden Prairie and Chanhassen saw the largest increase in food shelf usage in Minnesota during this time period.  Community members responded to this need by creating The PROP Shop, a nonprofit which would receive in-kind donations, give families basic items they need during difficult times, and operate a resale store to raise money for purchasing critical items such as socks and underwear. The PROP Shop opened in 2007 to support families in our community.

The PROP Shop's Family Services room has a private entrance where local families can receive clothing, housewares, and furniture free of charge. Many families visit while in crisis, for example, having experienced a fire, an illness, a job loss, or some other emergency. We help them get back on their feet with the basic clothing and household items they need. We have over 350 active volunteers from around the community, and we partner with local organizations to best serve the needs of our clients. Since we opened, we have had more than 3,700 volunteers and have helped more than 3,443 families (over 13,500 people) with basic household items. The PROP Shop has given out over 3,000 beds since 2007.

Thanks to all of our supporters, the PROP Shop is now helping an average of 300 families a month. In 2014, the PROP Shop purchased a nearby warehouse to increase its ability to serve families' furniture needs. The PROP Shop's furniture program increased more than 135% in one year with this new facility. We need your help to support local families during their times of need.

The PROP Shop operates its resale shop in Eden Prairie, MN. Funds from the resale store support the PROP Shop's programs and enable purchases of items such as socks, underwear, blankets, sheets, towels, beds, and more. While in-kind donations supply a large portion of items given to families, the most basic items are not donated insufficient supply to meet the need. Your support is needed to purchase these basic items for local families.
