$15,000 Goal

Pilgrim Baptist Church is celebrating 161 years of service to our Lord and Savior. The congregation worships in a 96-year-old church building, a testament to the members' dedication as stewards of this beloved place. Considering the building's age and historical importance, updating its infrastructure is essential.

The Give To The Max campaign goal of $15,000 will be used to improve the church infrastructure and help with the building modernization to preserve the church’s profound history.

Pilgrim Baptist Church was founded in 1863 and is Minnesota's oldest African American Baptist church. The church was founded by escaped slaves who journeyed to Minnesota with the help of the Underground Railroad, the Union Soldiers, and the steamship called the War Eagle.

Pilgrim Baptist Church was recently listed as the first Minnesota location on the National Park Service's National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom, a directory of more than 700 notable sites where enslaved people seeking their freedom hid or found refuge. See articles in the St. Paul Pioneer Press and the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Pilgrim Baptist Church is also listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Thank you for your support. God Bless.
