Bloomington HS Robotics Team

Do you like robots? What about pink flamingos?  How about neon bright pink flamingo-colored robots designed and built by high school students taking part in an outstanding nation-wide and international STEM program? 

The Bloomington Joint Outstanding Robotics Group (Team BJORG 2470) is an award-winning* member of FIRST Robotics, from Bloomington, Minnesota. Our students are focused on building their STEM and leadership skills through hands-on collaborative engineering challenges. Each year, students build, program, and run a robot capable of facing-off against teams locally and regionally in multiple competitions, with an opportunity to compete at Worlds.  As members of Team BJORG, students gain valuable teamwork, leadership, and key STEM skills they carry with them through college and beyond. During the 2024-2025 FIRST season, FIRST® DIVE℠ presented by Qualcomm, Team BJORG 2470 will use its STEM and collaboration skills to explore life beneath the surface of the ocean. Along the way, we’ll uncover the potential in each of us to strengthen our community and innovate for a better world with healthy oceans. 

"Combining the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology, FIRST® Robotics Competition (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is the ultimate Sport for the Mind. Under strict rules, limited time and resources, teams of students are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors. It’s as close to real-world engineering as a student can get. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team. Each season ends with an exciting FIRST Championship."
