IDEA

Our Space is community-driven campaign to create, build, and dream up physical and virtual spaces for queer and trans and LGBTQ+ communities in the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota.

INTENTION

Our Space intentionally centers the needs and experiences of those most marginalized in our communities, including Trans and GNC people, folks of color, indigenous and Native American folks, folks with disabilities, and others at the intersections of multiple marginalized identities.

VISION

Our vision is to co-imagine, co-create, and build dynamic community spaces for queer and trans and LGBTQ+ folks specifically centering BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) folks.

WHY

LGBTQ Organizations in MN spend on average between $500.00 and $5000.00 a month on rent, annually that can be $6000.00 to $60,000.00. This money is paid to land-owners who are mostly not LGBTQ and are not necessarily voting or advocating for LGBTQ intersts. In addition to rent organizations can spend upwards of $35,000.00 for venue rental fees for galas and fundraisers also money that is not spent in our community or directly supporting LGBTQ workers and business owners. So that means some entities are spending annually up to $95,000.00, funds that are spent outside of LGBTQ community but not circulated directly back into our community.

Create our own equity base. Create a social enterprise that is socially innovative, sustainable and by us for us.
