Noah's Ark Preschool and Child Care

Noah’s Ark Preschool opened its doors in the spring of 1971.  Our mission is to provide the community with a safe, developmentally appropriate preschool program for children 3 through 5 years of age.  In a loving, Christian environment, our preschool provides a variety of activities that promotes the intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth of each child.

As times changed in the 90s when both parents often were working outside of their homes, the need for more than a half-day preschool became evident.  At first it was local school district teachers who asked for full-day preschool and then asked for extended hours before and after normal hours.

Quickly, we transitioned from morning or afternoon preschool to a valued daycare provider for all working parents.

During most of the 2000s and 2010s we were servicing around 95 full-day childcare students and about 25 half-day preschool students.

All of a sudden it was 2020 and the Covid-19 virus c!  After a couple of months, we re-opened during the summer to less than half of our previous enrollment.  But, Covid-19 requirements for re-opening required essentially full staff with about half the tuition income and special requirements requiring costly improvements like disinfecting UVC lights in all eight classrooms and the office, sanitizing wipes, disinfecting solutions, masks, face shields, non-contact thermometers, additional staff to meet students and parents at the doors (parents are not allowed into the building),  etc..  

The PPP program under the CARES act provided funding for approximately 10 weeks of staffing.  Far less than the 20 weeks since our re-opening and there are 30 additional weeks until summer 2021!

With the Covid-19  entering a winter season and hospitals already nearing 100% capacity, simple math indicates that we will require full staffing into at least next summer and perhaps throughout most of 2021!  Recent announcements, in mid-November 2020, of 2 Covid-19 vaccines with normal populace availability by 3rd quarter 2021, provides some hope of relief by next fall if 70-90% of the people are vaccinated!

While additional federal aid MAY become available, there is an immediate need for additional fund-raising aid to cover the next 10-20 weeks.
