What makes a community thrive? Unity. A shared vision. Collaboration. A deep care for one another. These are the qualities that define thriving communities around the world, and they are exactly what the people of Yandohun, Sierra Leone, are building together.

At OneVillage Partners, we partner with rural communities in Sierra Leone to address their most pressing needs—things like access to clean water, safe schools for children to learn and grow, and maternal health clinics for the care of mothers and babies. Our goal is to empower communities to take charge of their own futures and create lasting change from within.
The people of Yandohun have chosen to invest in themselves and their community by building a rice mill and a community store. A rice milling machine is used to process rice, a faster, safer and cleaner alternative to the manual processing community members were doing before. The community store provides a dry space where farmers can store their harvest and will increase agricultural productivity for the hundreds of people living in their community.
But what truly powers projects like Yandohun’s is collective action. It’s the strength of neighbors coming together for the good of the entire community.
The results speak for themselves:
On this Give to the Max Day, we are raising funds to support more projects like Yandohun’s rice mill and community store—projects that give communities the tools to thrive. Will you join us in supporting the work of individuals who are driving lasting change in their communities?
