North Woods and Waters of the St. Croix Heritage Area helps communities in the St. Croix watershed make the most of our unique historical, cultural, and natural resources to power strong, sustainable economic development.

Join us as we:

  • Work to make the St. Croix watershed the nation’s 63rd National Heritage Area, a designation that will have a $7 million economic impact and create and support 6,000 jobs within two years of designation.
  • Promote and showcase the rich historical, arts-based, educational, scientific, environmental, and cultural programming in the St. Croix watershed, with a one-stop-shop Event and Cultural Guide and free online tools for creating virtual tours of local historic areas.
  • Lead vital partnership-based programs including the St. Croix Watershed Stewards, St. Croix Storytellers Program, and monthly "Live from the North Woods" events with stories celebrating the cultures, people, and natural beauty of the watershed.
  • Support our artist-in-residence program which places writers, poets, visual and performing artists in the St. Croix watershed to interpret the unique cultural, natural and historic resources of this region.

Our inclusive programming is building momentum and we are poised to do even more to help our nationally-acclaimed region thrive! Please join us today!
