About the Alumni Association

The purpose of the Northern Lakes Canoe Base Alumni Association (NLCBAA) is to provide a continuing interest in, and support for, the mission and programs of the Northern Lakes Canoe Base in keeping with the policies of the Girl Scouts of the USA.

The NLCBAA is a non-profit organization made up of past canoe guides along with past participants, community members, and other friends of the base. Our goal is to guarantee that the program we all love continues to inspire new generations of girls by instilling in them a love of nature, a compassion for others, and a sense of self-worth. 

About the Northern Lakes Canoe Base

The Northern Lakes Girl Scout Canoe Base is a place where girls over the age of 12 and adults are able to explore the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCA) on 3-10 day trips. The base is operated through the Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin Lakes and Pines Council.

How You Can Help

For over 50 years, the Northern Lakes Canoe Base has been a place where girls grow through adventure, leadership, and connection with nature and the Alumni Association has been supporting this life changing program for almost 20 years. As we celebrate this milestone, we’re looking to the future with a project that will improve the experience for every participant (and staff member) — building a new shower house. The current facilities have served us well but are outdated and unable to meet the needs of a growing program. A new shower house will not only provide more comfort but will also support the expansion of our program, allowing us to welcome even more girls into the wilderness. By contributing to our $20,000 goal, you’ll help ensure that future generations can enjoy the base while having access to updated, essential facilities.
