The Minnesota Recreation and Park Foundation (MRPF) was established in 1973 and incorporated as a 501(c)(3) public charity in 1974. It is the only non-profit organization in Minnesota solely dedicated to promoting excellence in the park and recreation profession. MRPF's mission is to provide equitable access to education and opportunities for the purpose of enhancing recreation and parks throughout Minnesota.
As part of our commitment to this mission, we are excited to announce that thanks to the generosity of Jan and Ken Vraa, we have matching funds available for Give to the Max Day! All donations made up to $5,000 will be matched, doubling the impact of every contribution. These matching funds are made in honor of Harvey Feldman, a dedicated supporter of parks and recreation who has recently passed away. If you would like your donation to be designated for a scholarship in Harvey's name, please select "Add a dedication to your donation."
Our primary objective is to support the education, innovation, and training of all recreation professionals and students. As a result, all membership dues and contributions to the Foundation are tax-deductible. The organization's membership currently consists of park and recreation professionals and supporters from throughout Minnesota. Funds raised by the Foundation and its members are used for a variety of worthwhile projects and initiatives, including:
Scholarships for students pursuing studies in the field of parks and recreation. Over the past 50 years, the Foundation has provided over $100,000 of dollars of financial support to over students.
Professional Enrichment Grants support professionals working in the field to attend advanced training, institutes, conferences, and workshops.
New Initiative Grants provide funding each year for programs and services that demonstrate innovation in parks and recreation. These start-up grants allow agencies to try new programs that may not be within their budget allocations.
Continuing Education sponsorship of speakers at MRPA Conferences and seminars.
