Thank you for supporting the Minnesota Golf Association Foundation!
Your gifts truly make an impact.
The Minnesota Golf Association Foundation (MGA Foundation) is the charitable affiliate of the Minnesota Golf Association. Because of you, Minnesota youth will have life-changing experiences permitting them to learn the necessary skills to be responsible, confident, and productive citizens. Your gift will help the MGA Foundation continue to grow Youth on Course Minnesota, the Women’s Scholarship, Caddie Development programs, and Adaptive Golf opportunities.
Youth on Course MN provides youth ages 6-18 life-changing opportunities through golf, including access to play for $5 or less at over 110 courses in Minnesota, paid internships, and college scholarships. In 2024, Minnesota became the second-largest program in the country, with over 20,000 members who played nearly 100,000 rounds. A survey of members reflects that playing golf develops engaged youth, with 80% citing they have developed better social skills and confidence, 82% spending more time with their family, and 88% saying they exercise more. Youth on Course is indeed growing the game of golf!
The Women's Scholarship (f.k.a. MWGA Foundation Scholarship) supports young women in their collegiate ventures and has committed more than $700,000 to 82 recipients from all corners of Minnesota since its inception in 1998. The four-year scholarship is awarded to three recipients who receive $3,000 annually. Applicants are rated on their academic excellence, financial need, quality of character, and interest or involvement in golf.
The MGA Foundation supports the 23 existing caddie programs in the state by providing resources and support to each club's staff to increase the number of applicants for the Chick Evans, Jr. Scholarship. The program awards young women and men four-year scholarships that include all tuition, books, and room & board (a FULL ride)! In addition to helping existing caddie programs, the initiative aims to start new caddie programs at courses that do not traditionally have a program. In the past two years, the program has assisted Keller Golf Course and Hiawatha Golf Course, in partnership with the Bronze Foundation, in starting youth caddie programs.
Clinics and events offer individuals of all abilities the chance to experience golf’s joy and camaraderie, regardless of physical or cognitive limitations. These opportunities empower people to overcome personal barriers, building confidence and resilience on the course that can extend far beyond it. Adaptive golf creates an inclusive environment where everyone can compete and enjoy the game. The sense of accomplishment that comes with playing and the therapeutic benefits of fresh air and physical activity make adaptive golf a transformative experience for participants. In 2024, the MGA Foundation took significant strides in expanding adaptive golf opportunities by partnering with Courage Kenny, The Loop at Chaska, and 2nd Swing to host clinics and play days for adaptive golfers. These events provided a chance for participants to learn, play, and connect in an inclusive and supportive environment. Looking ahead to 2025, the MGA Foundation will expand its adaptive golf programming to include additional casual and competitive opportunities, ensuring more pathways for adaptive golfers to thrive. Together, we’re building a future where everyone has a place in the game.
