Bring Minnesota’s Fishing Heritage to Life!

The gentle sound of water lapping at the shore, the crank of a reel, the splash of a catch, the hum of a trolling motor, the sun setting in shades of gold and orange on the lake—these are memories cherished by many Minnesotans. For some, it’s the solitude of a misty morning; for others, the laughter shared with loved ones or the call of a loon echoing across the water.

At the Minnesota Fishing Museum, these stories come alive. Our collection of over 20,000 fishing artifacts, lovingly displayed at 304 West Broadway in Little Falls, preserves Minnesota's rich fishing history. Step into our "log cabin" set and experience the feel of an old-time fishing camp, or visit our frozen lake diorama where Northern Pike glide beneath the ice, illustrating the art of spearing. Our displays showcase timeless tackle boxes, antique gear, and the progression of fishing culture over the years. A 270-gallon aquarium, stocked with native fish by the MN DNR, provides a fascinating focal point for learning and relaxation, while the record fish display inspires anglers of all ages.

Fishing is a universal pastime. Whether young or old, seasoned or new, alone or with friends, fishing connects us to nature and teaches patience, resilience, and stewardship. Our mission is to preserve this legacy and inspire future generations through engaging exhibits, educational programs, and hands-on experiences for all.

Help us continue to share these stories and keep Minnesota’s fishing heritage alive. Please support us with your financial gift. Together, we’ll pass down the joys and traditions of fishing to future generations.
