Whether you start your days with a run or bike ride along miles of city trails, drop in for a rec center class and a conversation with neighbors, or unwind your day with a walk and talk with someone you love, you know there’s a place for everyone in our Minneapolis parks. Parks provide the common ground (field, course, or rink!) where we meet friends, make memories, and reconnect with nature.
We’re on a mission to help foster an even more equitable, inclusive, and expansive park system. With your support, this is a future we can all look forward to. Please join us with a gift today, thank you.
About the Minneapolis Parks Foundation
Since 2003, the Minneapolis Parks Foundation has been an independent nonprofit dedicated to supporting our continually evolving park system. Over the past 20 years, generous support from park lovers like you has helped the Minneapolis Parks Foundation secure more than $45 million for major park improvements and programs. Today, we combine community engagement, strategic leadership, and philanthropic investment to encourage innovation and equity throughout the whole Minneapolis Park system.
Our Projects & Programs
The Minneapolis Parks Foundation creates and implements a range of forward-thinking projects and programs. From the groundbreaking work of the RiverFirst Initiative along the Mississippi River and the historic transformation of North Commons Park, to growing the People for Parks Fund, elevating our Next Generation of Parks and Walk & Talk series, and our continued collaboration with community organizations, we are always exploring and expanding within the parks. Your donation today will support our work in helping foster equitable park improvements and access throughout Minneapolis parks.
Transforming North Commons Park
This year, our work has focused largely on the historic transformation of North Commons Park, one of Minneapolis’s oldest and most iconic neighborhood parks. This once-in-a-generation investment will renovate the park’s aging fieldhouse with new programming spaces for youth, teens and seniors, a fitness space, a maker space, and a new concession space to serve the building and the waterpark, which will be wholly renovated. Your support of the Minneapolis Parks Foundation will help us complete this renovation, in partnership with the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board and community in North Minneapolis. Check out what's coming to North Commons Park in the video below!
