MIGIZI is a Native-led, woman-led organization providing a strong circle of support that nurtures the educational, social, economic and cultural development of American Indian youth.

In 2021, only 58.5% of American Indian students graduated high school in Minnesota. But here at MIGIZI - our programs provide youth with academic and cultural support, both in-school, after school, and every summer year.

Donate anytime between now and November 16th, and your contribution will play a pivotal role in guiding our youth toward a brighter future that embraces culture, academics 📚, film 📸, podcasting 🎙, STEM 🧪, green technologies 🔋, and so much more!

Too often our youth are left behind, but with your support — they thrive! Double your impact — donate now and our generous anonymous donor will match all gifts up to $5,000 by the end of the day Thursday

Our Programs

First Person Productions Internship

First Person Productions is a paid media internship aimed at empowering our young people to be the next generation of Native storytellers.

For too long, our people have been inaccurately portrayed in the media, but our internship program allows our young people to take ownership over their own stories.  From filmmaking and podcasting to social media and marketing — FPP pays young people to learn the mechanics of media while increasing the visibility of Native peoples and ensuring accurate and authentic portrayals of our community.

Green Tech Internship

Our Green Tech Internship is a program where high schoolers get paid to learn about STEM from an Indigenous perspective. Our internship provides Native youth hands-on experience in the renewable and green energy fields. Whether that’s bike building, learning about hydroelectricity, or creating solar powered phone chargers and libraries, our interns are taking care of our community providing sustainable solutions for a greener future.

CLAW (Culture, Language, Academics, Well-being)

MIGIZI’s CLAW program integrates cultural practices with academic studies to provide Native
young people with a relatable and engaging time of learning. Students receive personal, one-
on-one academic support in the classroom and in-person or online tutoring four days per week
after-school. They also participate in cultural activities after school and on school release days,
when credit-recovery options are also available.

Best Buy Teen Tech Center

MIGIZI’s Best Buy Teen Tech Center is a modern, technology-driven safe space for youth ages 13-18. Located in South Minneapolis, this after school drop-in center allows teens to explore cutting edge technology and express themselves creatively through personal projects they are passionate about, while learning valuable life skills and discovering new career pathways.
