We know that economics can be confusing.

That's why we've been working to help students, teachers, and Minnesotans of all stripes make sense of the economy and their personal finances since 1961.

We're a small nonprofit based in Saint Paul, and you've probably never heard of us - that's okay. It's likely that our work has helped you or your family, though:

  • MCEE has trained thousands of teachers to deliver lessons in economics and personal finance since we were established nearly 50 years ago. Odds are, if you've taken an economics class in Minnesota we helped shape your teacher.
  • MCEE worked with the state in 2011 to create the academic standards for teaching economics in public schools. So, if you have a child that's taken an economics class in the last decade, we helped make that happen.
  • MCEE has supported more than 115 local organizations in communities throughout the state in developing classes and workshops for disadvantaged Minnesotans to learn how to manage their finances and plan for the future.

Now more than ever, it's crucial for Minnesotans to understand the economic forces that shape their daily lives.  Help us continue offering programs that empower students, teachers, and communities to engage with the global economy and build a brighter future for us all.
