MAFAC is dedicated to presenting art exhibitions and performances, promoting local artistic talents, and providing educational experiences.

MAFAC's contribution to the Marshall Community:

PERFORMANCES: Each year, MAFAC sponsors a series of performances featuring a variety of local, regional, national, and international talent. Series ticket purchases provide high quality entertainment at an exceptional value. All concerts are held at the Schwan Community Center for the Performing Arts (SCCPA) at the Marshall High School, unless otherwise indicated.

ARTS CENTER: The Arts Center at 109 N. 3rd St. is a free exhibit gallery showcasing a wide array of styles and media in 6-8 week runs. Two exhibits are annual events: The Lyon County High School Art Stars in the spring and the Annual Photography Competition & Exhibit in late summer. The center is staffed by volunteers and a part-time Coordinator.

GIFT SHOP: The Gift Shop features works by area artists, providing visitors with unique gifts including original pottery and a variety of art forms, prints, note cards, jewelry, and books authored by local writers.

EDUCATION: MAFAC works to provide opportunities for everyone to experience the arts directly, whether through classes offered at the Arts Center, tours for school children, or residencies in area schools presented by artists who are part of the performance series.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Volunteer greeters allow the Arts Center to be open regular hours four days/week. MAFAC utilizes volunteers for board and committee positions, publicity, performance support (ushers, etc.), light office work, exhibit set-up, etc. We appreciate our volunteers!

Our activities are made possible in part by city and county appropriations, individual memberships, business sponsorships, and grants provided by the Southwest Minnesota Arts Council (SMAC) with funds appropriated by the State Legislature and/or by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund as appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.

Arts Center Hours: Tuesday - Friday, 12:00 - 5:00 pm. Evenings and weekends by appointment.
