LeadMN is the student association for over 100,000 two-year college students across the state of Minnesota. We encourage and empower students along their academic journey, helping them transform their lives and communities. Through leadership and professional development, advocacy, and scholarships we support today’s students and foster tomorrow’s leaders.
We strive to break down the barriers to success by providing students with scholarship opportunities, resources, and tools that help them reach their personal and academic goals. Each year LeadMN awards over $60,000 in scholarships to 70 students; provides leadership and professional development training at conferences; and collaborates with our student leaders to advocate for state and federal policies that make college dreams more accessible.
“My first LeadMN Conference, this was the start of being involved in student leadership, government, and advocacy. I have met with legislators, walked the halls of the Capitol, studied and worked on so many things because that’s what student involvement is! It’s work that doesn’t feel like work – it’s about helping your peers and your community.”
– ARCC Cambridge Student, Axel
Over the last year LeadMN has seen some major changes. We have an almost entirely new staff, a new student cabinet, and have been re-examining our approach to the work and the ways in which we show up for our students, campuses, and community. We’re motivated to be a reliable source of support and encouragement to our LeadMN students and alumni and a trusted partner to our donors.
When asked about what the future looks like for LeadMN, new Executive Director Rachel Boeke said, “This year has been full of redesign and redevelopment for LeadMN. We created a new staffing structure to best align with our mission and support students. Our new Student Advocate Program is drawing new students and building their organizing and advocacy skills. We will kick off a Certificate Program next fall focused on supporting students looking to gain a variety of leadership and communication skills. Our transformation will continue as we travel across the state connecting with students on all 48 campuses we serve ensuring that we are providing the programs, events and training opportunities most wanted and needed. It's a new era at LeadMN.”
Join us in building a collective future that elevates student voices, eliminates barriers to success, and provides opportunities for all. Together, we build pathways to success.
